Lamin Njie, a development practitioner and youth advocate with over five years of experience in program management and community development, has declared his candidacy for the presidency of the Brikama Sports Committee (BSC), presenting a Six-Point Agenda he says will transform football governance in the region.
Njie holds a Master of Science in Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Development Studies from the University of The Gambia, and brings leadership experience from institutions including the National Human Rights Commission, Future In Our Hands (FIOHTG), and the Gambia Centre for Victims of Human Rights Violations — where he coordinated projects, managed budgets, and led advocacy campaigns.

Central to his bid is a promise of financial transparency. Drawing on his budget management experience at FIOHTG and NHRC, Njie says he will introduce a dedicated Financial Management Policy for BSC, backed by quarterly reporting and independent audits.
On governance, Njie is pitching an inclusive model that gives clubs and stakeholders a direct voice in decision-making — an approach he says is rooted in his background in civic education and participatory planning. He is also targeting partnerships with local businesses, government agencies, and international football academies to fund tournaments, upgrade facilities, and open doors for Brikama’s youth.
As a former lecturer, Njie says capacity building will be a cornerstone of his administration. He has committed to training coaches, referees, and administrators in governance, financial literacy, and technical skills. On infrastructure, his project planning background, he argues, positions him to design and deliver a comprehensive upgrade of Brikama’s sports facilities.
Rounding out the agenda is a proposed constitutional reform, a review of the BSC Constitution to embed audit mechanisms, grievance procedures, and anti-corruption clauses that Njie says will give the committee national credibility.
