Banjul is on the brink of a transformative leap with the upcoming launch of the Youth for Excellence Centre, a multi-million Dalasis project aimed at empowering the city’s youth and unlocking their potential.
Mayor Rohey Malick-Lowe took to social media to share a passionate glimpse into what she described as the future of Banjul.
“A bold, 3-storey powerhouse for the next generation,” she wrote, outlining the features of the soon-to-be-completed centre. The facility will include dynamic youth innovation zones, a safe haven for learning, growth, and bold ideas, clean and modern toilet facilities, an all-purpose sports court for basketball and other activities, as well as creative labs and collaboration rooms.
“A space to build, dream, lead and own the future,” Mayor Lowe emphasized, expressing deep pride in the contributions and spirit of Banjul’s young people. “Suma youths yee, you all made me a proud mayor. Malee buga pirr why,” she added in a heartfelt tribute that resonated with her close connection to the community.
Calling on fellow city leaders, she quipped, “Senior councillors Tunko Jammeh and Pa Ceesay, where are my youths?” highlighting the collective responsibility in nurturing the city’s emerging talents.
