Banjul Mayor Rohey Malick-Lowe has traveled to Cape Town, South Africa, to participate in the highly anticipated City Leadership Forum, set to commence today, January 26, 2025. The event has brought together over 30 mayors from across Africa to discuss strategies for urban development and collaborative governance.
In a statement shared ahead of the forum, Mayor Malick-Lowe expressed her enthusiasm for the gathering and shared highlights of her visit. “Yesterday I left the country for Cape Town, South Africa, to participate at the City Leadership Forum that is destined to begin tomorrow, the 26th of January 2025,” she wrote.
Mayor Malick-Lowe also took the opportunity to explore Cape Town alongside Mayor Talib Bensouda of Kanifing Municipality, who is also attending the forum. Reflecting on her experience, she stated, “I had the opportunity today to take a city tour with Mayor Bensouda of Kanifing Municipality, who is also part of the program, to explore the city and appreciate the excellent job done by the city planners. Cape Town is such a beautiful and well-planned city.”
The Banjul mayor reaffirmed her commitment to fostering progress in urban development, saying, “We can assure you that we will not relent our efforts in building the cities we want together.”
The forum is expected to serve as a platform for exchanging ideas and experiences, ultimately inspiring African leaders to implement innovative solutions in their respective cities.
