The Dean and Vice Dean of FASTEF traveled to Rabat on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, to take part in activities of the African Network of Education Sciences, known by its French acronym RASED.

The meeting brought together senior academic leaders from Senegal, Morocco and Mauritania as part of efforts to strengthen cooperation, research coordination and institutional collaboration in the field of education sciences across Africa.

The FASTEF delegation joined Professor Abdellatif Kidal, Dean of the Faculty of Education Sciences at Mohammed V University in Rabat, along with his vice deans. Also present were Professor Louly, Director General of the École Normale Supérieure of Nouakchott, and Professor Kerim, Permanent Secretary of RASED.

The Rabat meeting provided an opportunity for the participants to finalize the texts governing the network and validate the proposed action plan.

This step is significant because African education systems face common challenges that require shared research, teacher-training innovation, curriculum development and stronger regional cooperation. By bringing institutions together, RASED can help create a platform where African scholars and teacher-training institutions respond collectively to the continent’s educational priorities.

For FASTEF, participation in the meeting reflects Senegal’s continued role in teacher education, pedagogical research and regional academic partnership. It also strengthens the connection between Senegalese education experts and their counterparts in Morocco, Mauritania and other African countries engaged in the network.

Beyond institutional documents, the work of RASED carries practical importance. Stronger cooperation in education sciences can improve teacher preparation, support evidence-based policy, encourage academic mobility and promote locally grounded solutions for schools and learners.

On the sidelines of the RASED activities, the FASTEF Dean and Assessor also attended the award ceremony honoring the best students of Mohammed V University in Rabat.

Their presence at the ceremony underscored the value of academic excellence and the importance of recognizing students as central actors in Africa’s educational future.

The Rabat gathering therefore served two purposes: strengthening the institutional foundation of RASED and celebrating the human talent that education systems are meant to nurture.

As African universities and teacher-training institutions continue to work together, networks such as RASED can become important spaces for shared knowledge, innovation and continental solidarity in education.
