The Gambia Police Force has successfully apprehended two armed robbers involved in the February 8 attack on a shop in El Hella, Hegan Street, Banjul.
The suspects were found hiding in a house in Banjul, following an intense manhunt.
Investigations have revealed that the gang’s leader, Ousainou Jahateh, is an Ivorian national with ties to The Gambia. He is married to a Gambian woman from Busumbala, raising concerns about how the gang may have been operating within the country.
The arrested suspects are currently in Lower Niumi under police custody, where detectives are working tirelessly to track down the remaining members of the criminal network.
The rapid response by law enforcement has been widely praised.
Mayor Rohey Malick-Lowe, who had earlier condemned the robbery and urged residents to remain vigilant, is expected to comment on the latest development.
Authorities have assured the public that efforts will continue to dismantle criminal elements operating in Banjul and beyond. Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activities to help maintain peace and security in the city.
Kudos to the Gambia Police Force for their swift and decisive action!
