University of The Gambia (UTG) students have announced a peaceful protest scheduled for tomorrow to address ongoing issues affecting their academic environment and student welfare.
The protest, organized by the UTG Students’ Union (UTGSU) Taskforce Committee, aims to press for an immediate resolution to the disputes between UTG management and the University of The Gambia Faculty and Staff Association (UTGFSA). The organizers are calling for the active participation of all students to demand the changes they believe are critical to their academic and personal development.
In a statement, the UTGSU emphasized the significance of solidarity among students in this critical moment. “Our voices must be heard, our demands must be met, and our collective future must not be compromised,” the statement read.
Protesters will focus on key demands outlined in an official document, including issues related to academic policies and resource allocations. To ensure unity and consistency, organizers will provide free t-shirts on a first-come, first-served basis, as well as printed placards displaying their demands. Participants are urged not to bring personal materials for display to maintain the protest’s organized and peaceful nature.
The UTGSU has called on students to rally behind the cause, stating that this is a decisive moment for their collective future. The peaceful demonstration will aim to draw attention to their grievances and push for meaningful dialogue with the administration.
