The U.S. Embassy Banjul has reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and open engagement with the Gambian media following a high-level roundtable discussion with leaders of the country’s print media sector.
According to a post shared today on the Embassy’s official Facebook page, the roundtable was hosted by Chargé d’Affaires Eugene Young, who engaged journalists in a candid exchange on U.S. policies, priorities, and the broader bilateral relationship between the United States and The Gambia. The discussion provided an opportunity for media leaders to ask questions, seek clarifications, and share perspectives on issues of mutual interest.
During the meeting, CDA Young emphasized the importance of an informed and independent press, noting that open dialogue with journalists is central to strengthening mutual understanding and democratic values. He reiterated that the Embassy remains accessible to members of the media and encouraged continued engagement through constructive and professional exchanges.
The session was also attended by Deputy Chief of Mission Robert Anderson and Public Affairs Officer Andrew Posner, underscoring the Embassy’s institutional support for sustained media outreach.
The roundtable reflects ongoing efforts by the U.S. Mission in Banjul to promote transparency, foster trust with local media, and strengthen communication channels as part of its broader diplomatic engagement with The Gambia.
