The custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman, has officially inaugurated the Riyadh Metro Project, marking a transformative step in Saudi Arabia’s public transport landscape.
During the ceremony, a documentary showcased the project’s key features, emphasizing its role as a cornerstone of development during King Salman’s reign.
Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Prime Minister and Chairman of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, praised the project as a realization of King Salman’s vision during his tenure as chairman of the High Commission for the Development of Riyadh.
The Crown Prince highlighted the King’s directives to execute the metro project according to world-class standards, ensuring it meets Riyadh’s growing urban needs.
The Riyadh Metro is among the largest public transport initiatives in the world, incorporating renewable energy-powered, fully automated trains.
It features six lines spanning 176 km, with 60 km underground, 85 stations, and 183 advanced train sets.
This network, part of the broader King Abdulaziz Project for Riyadh Public Transport, aims to alleviate traffic congestion, cater to the city’s population growth, and improve air quality.
Completed in one comprehensive phase, the Riyadh Metro integrates seamlessly with Vision 2030 goals, offering sustainable transport solutions and enhancing the quality of life for residents and visitors.
