
The Gambia Police Force (GPF) female volleyball team has claimed their fourth consecutive knockout trophy after an impressive performance on December 7, 2024, at the Independence Stadium.
Led by coach Marie Wadda, the team overcame a strong challenge from their rivals, the Gambia Armed Forces (GAF), in a thrilling final match. The game, attended by several dignitaries including Assistant Inspector General of Police for Administration Ebrima Bah, saw the GPF team bounce back from losing the first set to secure a 3-1 victory.
This latest triumph cements GPF’s dominance in Gambian volleyball, having held the championship title since 2021. The team’s success was further highlighted by individual awards won by its players: Best Setter Fatou Jammeh, Best Blocker Maimuna Bangura, Best Libero Sohna Sarr, Best Outside Hitter Mariama Ginado and Best Female Coach Marie Wadda
Coach Wadda commended her team for their resilience and dedication, stating, “This victory is a testament to the hard work and commitment of every player.”
