GIZ Donates Over 1.6 Million Dalasi Studio Equipment to Gambia Police Force

The Gambia Police Force (GPF) Public Relations and Press Office has received a state-of-the-art studio equipment donation worth over 1.6 million dalasi from the GIZ Police Programme, a project financed by the German Federal Office and co-financed by the European Union.

The donation, presented on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, is aimed at enhancing the GPF’s media and communication capabilities, strengthening its ability to engage with the public effectively.

This latest contribution follows a series of capacity-building initiatives facilitated by GIZ, covering media training, crisis communication, and public relations development for the GPF.

Speaking at the event, GPF Public Relations Officer, ASP Modou Musa Sisawo, expressed deep appreciation for the support, describing it as one of the most significant contributions ever received by the office.

“This donation is a game-changer for our media operations. It will significantly improve our communication efforts, ensuring we serve the public with timely and professional information. We assure you that this equipment will be put to the best possible use,” he stated.

Representing the Inspector General of Police, Commissioner of Police Administration, Mustapha Ndong, lauded GIZ for its continuous partnership with the GPF. He praised the Public Relations Office for its pivotal role in facilitating effective internal and external communication and emphasized that the new equipment would further boost efficiency and transparency.

On behalf of GIZ, Communications and Gender Advisor Teresa reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to supporting the Gambia Police Force in its quest for effective policing and public engagement.

“We are proud to be part of this transformative journey. We encourage the Public Relations team to maximize this equipment and maintain it well for long-term impact,” she said.

The donation marks yet another milestone in the GIZ Police Programme’s mission to strengthen law enforcement communication and foster trust between the police and the Gambian public.
