The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Seedy Mukhtar Touray has concluded a week-long working visit to the Rwanda National Police (RNP), aimed at boosting the operational capabilities and professionalism of The Gambia Police Force (GPF).
During the visit, IGP Touray signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rwandan police officials to enhance security cooperation and provide opportunities for capacity building. The agreement includes initiatives for GPF officers to pursue master’s degrees at the Rwanda National Police College, reflecting a commitment to strengthening institutional expertise.
Accompanied by a high-level delegation, IGP Touray held discussions with senior RNP officials, including Commissioner-General Felix Namuhoranye and the Rwandan Minister of Interior. The delegation toured key RNP facilities, including the basic policing recruitment and cadet academy in Gishari, the RNP Uniform Factory, and the Counterterrorism Training Centre.
IGP Touray also visited the Automated Driving Testing and Licensing Centre and observed border management systems at the La Corniche One-Stop Border Post in Rwanda’s Western Region. These engagements provided valuable insights into Rwanda’s advanced policing strategies and operational structures.
“This visit reaffirms our commitment to learning and growth. By fostering international collaborations, we aim to position The Gambia Police Force as a model of professionalism and innovation,” IGP Touray stated.
The visit underscores Touray’s vision to enhance the GPF’s service delivery and operational efficiency through partnerships and knowledge exchange.
