A 61-year-old foreign national was arrested on January 16, 2025, during a joint operation spearheaded by the Siffoe Police Station, the Drug Law Enforcement Agency, the State Intelligence Service (SIS), and other security agencies. The suspect was apprehended for alleged possession of prohibited drugs and an unlicensed firearm.
According to authorities, the operation commenced at Siffoe Beach, where officers discovered 10 wraps of cannabis in the suspect’s possession.
Acting on this discovery, law enforcement agents conducted a search at the suspect’s residence, which led to the seizure of additional cannabis, a PT 111 G2 9mm pistol without a license, two magazines, and 82 rounds of live ammunition.
In a statement, the Gambia Police Force emphasized their commitment to ensuring public safety and security.
“Investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of the suspect’s activities. We encourage citizens to report suspicious activities to help maintain a safe environment for everyone,” a police spokesperson said.
