Faith Morey strengthens ties with Gambia’s first lady to transform education in West Africa

Philanthropist and reality TV star Faith Morey has deepened her commitment to educational development in West Africa through a strategic partnership with the First Lady of The Gambia, Her Excellency Fatoumatta Bah-Barrow. Their collaboration seeks to address key challenges in education, support disadvantaged children, and drive long-term community development.

During their meeting on January 25th, Morey and the First Lady discussed potential synergies between the Okachi Charity Foundation (OCF) and the Fatoumatta Bah-Barrow (FAAB) Foundation. Their shared focus includes expanding access to quality education, improving teacher training, and ensuring inclusive learning environments for children with disabilities.

Faith Morey’s Okachi Charity Foundation (OCF) has already made a significant impact, having adopted six schools that support over 8,000 children by providing volunteer teachers to bridge learning gaps, playgrounds to promote child development and essential educational materials to improve learning outcomes

The First Lady applauded OCF’s hands-on approach to addressing educational disparities and expressed a keen interest in understanding the specific challenges faced by schools visited during Morey’s trip.

One of the most pressing concerns raised during the discussion was the need for improved teacher training to better support children with disabilities. Both Morey and the First Lady acknowledged that creating inclusive classrooms is essential for long-term educational development.

“Education is the foundation for lasting change. Our goal is to bridge gaps, provide opportunities, and create an environment where every child can thrive,” Morey emphasized.

She also revealed plans to integrate insights from her visit into OCF’s 2025 Summer School Program, while sharing key findings with the Commissioner of Education in Rivers State to drive policy reforms in Nigeria.

Her Excellency Fatoumatta Bah-Barrow reaffirmed her dedication to education and social welfare, highlighting that collaborations like this are essential in shaping the future of young learners.

Both foundations agreed to strengthen ties for long-term initiatives, focusing on sustainable development, educational innovation, and community-driven solutions.

With this partnership, Faith Morey and the First Lady of The Gambia are laying the groundwork for a transformative approach to education in West Africa, ensuring that thousands of children receive the support they need to succeed.
