Banjul Mayor, Rohey Malick-Lowe, shares insights from Amali City leadership forum in Cape Town

The second day of the Amali City Leadership Forum, held at the University of Cape Town, saw over 30 mayors and a host of experienced coaches from across Africa engage in robust discussions about leadership, planning, and tackling community challenges.

Among the highlights of the session, participants reviewed their legacy action plans and focused on the key aspects of designing sustainable leadership frameworks.

“Our leadership challenges, solving technical problems, and how to deal with adaptive challenges were high on the agenda,” Mayor Rohey Malick-Lowe of Banjul shared in a statement. “It was an interesting session, and our coaches did extremely well.”

Notable coaches included the former Senior Minister of Health in Senegal, Honorable Coll Secka, who will be personally mentoring Malick-Lowe throughout the programme.

“Among the coaches were my very own mentor, Honorable Coll Secka, who will be mentoring me throughout the programme, as well as the former Prime Minister of Mozambique, among others,” Malick-Lowe added.

Expressing her gratitude and excitement for the opportunity, Mayor Malick-Lowe emphasized how the knowledge gained at the forum would have a direct positive impact on her community and the Gambia at large.

“I am privileged to be part of this program that will enable me to gain impactful knowledge that will be beneficial to my community and Gambia at large,” she concluded.

The forum continues to be a vital platform for equipping African leaders with the skills and insights needed to address the complex issues their communities face, while fostering cross-border collaboration for greater development across the continent.
