The Mayor of Banjul, Rohey Malick-Lowe, alongside the Deputy Mayor of The Kanifing Municipality, Madam Binta Janneh, and other African officials, is currently in Singapore for the Singapore Cooperation Program (SCP), an initiative designed to foster partnerships between cities and enhance capacity building in urban governance.
The SCP aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by addressing key urban challenges, including housing, infrastructure, and livability.
During the program, Mr. Yeon Wen Cong, Director of the Singapore Housing Department, presented Singapore’s livability framework, highlighting how the city-state overcame urbanization challenges to become a model of rapid transformation.
Sharing her optimism about the program’s impact, Mayor Rohey Malick-Lowe stated: “I am very hopeful that The Gambia can learn more from Singapore’s success story to transform into Africa’s best modern and transformative country.”
As part of the #REFELA (Network of Local Elected Women of Africa) initiative, the Mayor continues to advocate for female leadership, urban development, and international cooperation, reinforcing her commitment to sustainable growth in The Gambia.
