Banjul Mayor Malick-Lowe honored with Excellence Award, pledges continued commitment to youth and women empowerment

In a moment of recognition for his dedication to youth and women empowerment, Mayor of Banjul, Rohey Malick-Lowe, has been honored with the prestigious Award of Excellence by the Young Africans Network for Global Goals (YANGG) at the African Youth Summit 2025.

Expressing his gratitude, Mayor Malick-Lowe described the recognition as both surprising and deeply meaningful.

“I was truly dumbfounded and deeply honored to receive the Award of Excellence from the Young Africans Network for Global Goals at the African Youth Summit 2025. This recognition is so dear to my heart because it continually shows my commitment to women and youth empowerment, sustainable development, and innovative leadership,” he said.

Beyond celebrating his own achievement, Malick-Lowe took the opportunity to commend Marie K. Badjie on her appointment as Vice President of YANGG, calling it a significant step for women in leadership.

“Her appointment is a powerful affirmation of women leadership and serves as an inspiration for all who strive to create a better, more inclusive future for our continent,” he stated.

Reaffirming his mission, the Banjul Mayor pledged continued efforts to create opportunities for women and young Africans.

“We will continue to drive meaningful change and uplift the voices of women and young Africans, ensuring that our collective vision for progress and unity is realized,” he assured.

He also extended appreciation to key figures who attended the event, including Madi Jobarteh, guests from the diaspora, and other participants, acknowledging their role in advancing youth leadership and African development.
